Speaking on the season debut of The Jack Del Rio Show last night on WOKV, the coach said that the Jaguars weren't negotiating with Culpepper. "We said we'd investigate it and we have," Del Rio said. "My gut is it's not going to be a fit for us and for him."

The biggest sticking point seems to be that Culpepper wants to be the starter, and as the Jaguars have been saying all along, he would come to Jacksonville as a backup to Byron Leftwich. Although he Culpepper visited the Bucs last week, the Jaguars have been more public in their interest of Culpepper than any other team in the NFL. ... Another issue? Culpepper still must prove that he's ready to play. His knee hasn't been tested on the field since playing in just four games last years for the Dolphins.
