According to Globe staffer Mike Reiss, Maroney was on the field for the Patriots first practice this morning, wearing a red, non-contact jersey.

As noted in
a previous item, the fact that Maroney didn't open camp on the PUP is probably a good sign. The second-year back is recovering from shoulder surgery performed earlier this year. Not surprisingly, the Patriots and Maroney have been rather tight-lipped about the situation. ... That he was on the field this morning -- even in the red jersey -- adds another positive data point to the list. It's safe to say we'll have more on Maroney as the summer progresses.
