The New York Jets released veteran running back Tony Fisher on Tuesday. Reported by the Associated Press

Fisher, who spent last season with St. Louis after four years with Green Bay, was signed by the Jets last Friday to add depth to their running back corps after Cedric Houston left the team abruptly. Fisher's 2006 season ended early with a torn ACL; perhaps he's not as far back as hoped.
