A league source tells us that the contract signed to Lions receiver Calvin Johnson includes no option bonus. As a practical matter, this wrinkle could quickly crack the impasse between the Raiders and No. 1 overall pick, Russell, since the Raiders and Russell's agents have been wrangling over the amount of Russell's option bonus.

According to PFT editor Mike Florio, the Raiders are willing to include some of the money as a roster bonus -- but Russell's agents want to maximize the amount of the option bonus. But Since Johnson got no option bonus at No. 2, the Raiders have some extra leverage to hold the amount of the option bonus down. Johnson's signing also eliminatesw any possibility of Russell's agents getting embarrassed by the No. 2 pick getting more than their client did as the No. 1 after the fact. ... Stay tuned.
