The Facts:
Jones suffered a calf injury during Sunday's practice. He hasn't practiced since. But in a surprising development, HC Eric Mangini told WFAN that the tailback might play Friday against Minnesota. Mangini told WFAN's Mike Francesa that Jones is day-to-day, and the coach told the host that he hasn't ruled out using the runner on Friday.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The coach's comments prompted Scout.com's Dan Leberfeld, taking an appropriately skeptical approach, to write: "So let's get this straight. The team's franchise back hurts his calf on Sunday, and the coach is considering playing him Friday against the NFL's top run defense from 2006 in the second preseason game. ... Honestly, it would be shocking if Jones played on Friday." Leberfeld is correct. As is his further assessment that "what is going on here is the coach is playing semantics games with the media regarding injuries, a topic he doesn't like talking about."
