Ferguson's career as a Packer is over. HC Mike McCarthy said after practice Thursday night that the team is talking with several teams about a possible trade, but even if one is not worked out, Ferguson will not play for the Packers again.

McCarthy mentioned the improved play of Ruvell Martin and Carlyle Holiday as factors. "Just like I told him today, I think Robert Ferguson's a talented young man," McCarthy said. "I think he's a true professional. But we've gone another direction, and that's where we're at right now." Of course, if McCarthy really though Ferguson was a true professional, he wouldn't be chasing the oft-injured wideout off the squad.
