Shockley will miss the rest of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament and injuring the medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Friday's pre-season game against Buffalo, a person close to Shockley with knowledge of the injury said.

They Falcons have held trade talks with Philadelphia about veteran Kelly Holcomb but nothing had developed as of Sunday. For now, second-year player Casey Bramlett, who was signed last week, is the third quarterback.
