Panthers Hope To Sign Freddie Jones
(4/15 11:6 PT)

The Facts:
General manager Marty Hurney acknowledged Wednesday he was talking with Jones' agent, but said no deal was done. The 30-year-old tight end has 404 catches for 4,232 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career. After a 71-reception season for San Diego in 2000, he's averaged 44.8 catches per year the last four seasons. He spent the last three years with Arizona.  Reported by the Rock Hill Herald

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The acquisition would add experience to a position without much behind Kris Mangum, and also would provide the most polished receiving threat there since the departure of Wesley Walls. Bringing Jones aboard would provide also another dimension to the position, a legitimate receiving threat as well as an able blocker.
