Kevin Jones Practices With Scout Team
(9/3 4:38 PT)

The Facts:
At first glance, Jones looked like, well, Kevin Jones. He lined up at running back. He cut to the right, caught a pass, then darted downfield. There were only a couple of clues that Monday's practice was his first since December. ... In the end, after 2 1/2 hours of going through drills and running with the scout team, Jones was pleased with how his injured left foot held up. "I was a little timid at times, trying to test it, but felt good," Jones said as he walked off the field. Reported by the Detroit Free Press

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Before practice, Jones spoke for the first time since the Lions put him on the active roster instead of keeping him on the physically unable to perform list. "It was tough making the decision to come off PUP," Jones said. "I think we made the right decision." Had the Lions kept Jones on the PUP list, he would not have been allowed to practice or play for the first six weeks of the regular season. The Lions decided not to wait because Jones' surgeon said he could not hurt the foot. They hope Jones can get into game shape and return to the lineup sooner than he would have otherwise. "Hopefully I'll be back as soon as possible," Jones said. "That's the goal – as soon as possible. ..." Good news, even if it won't be Week 1.
