The Facts:
General manager Marty Hurney said he expected to have Peete "back in the fold" prior to the draft. The Panthers released the veteran quarterback in a salary cap saving move Feb. 28, with the plan at that time to bring him back at a money-saving minimum salary deal.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The 39-year-old Peete will once again compete with 32-year-old Chris Weinke for the backup job behind Jake Delhomme, but it's unlikely the team would keep both for the fourth straight season. They re-signed former practice squad QB Rod Rutherford in hopes of developing him, and they'd like him to spend the season as their inactive third quarterback.
