The Facts:
Manning has a slightly separated shoulder which is expected to keep him out at least a month, team sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Monday. Doctors told the team that Manning should not need surgery, but the quarterback will get a second opinion from orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon emphatically denied that Manning had separated the shoulder and said that it was a contusion of the AC joint and he is day-to-day. Hanlon added: "Don't be shocked if you see him playing on Sunday. ..." Mortensen's report is only one of many: Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio is reporting a rumor that Manning could be out even longer. Conversely, New York Daily News staffer Rich Cimini reports the MRI performed on Manning's right (throwing) should revealed only a sprain -- and no structural damage; Newark Star-Ledger beat man Mike Garafolo is reporting the same. ... Stay tuned. We'll have more this one as the situation clarifies. Meanwhile, Manning owners should start planning for the worst case (an extended absence).
