Kellen Clemens will replace an injured Pennington and make his first NFL start against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, according to three people familiar with the severity of Pennington's right ankle injury and the Jets' plans. "Yeah, Chad's not going to play," one person said Wednesday. "It's Kellen."

As Star-Ledger staffer Dave Hutchinson noted, his sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because all official injury information must come from the team. Pennington suffered a severe sprain or bruise of the right ankle last Sunday against the Patriots. There was no fracture and Hutchinson reports he could be ready to play next week against the Dolphins. ... While it's not official, Hutchinson's report doesn't seem out of line.
