The Facts:
Matthews re-signed with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, accepting the role to be the team's third-stringer. Matthews, a 12-year veteran, returns for his second season with Buffalo to work behind new starter J.P. Losman and recently signed backup Kelly Holcomb. The Bills were particularly pleased with how Matthews helped mentor Losman through his rookie season.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Matthews was all but out of football after being released by Cincinnati following the 2003 season when the Bills signed him last August. He made two mop-up appearances last season, and completed his first touchdown pass -- a 33-yarder to Lee Evans -- in two years in Buffalo's 41-7 win at San Francisco in December.
