The Vikings used the seventh pick in the NFL Draft to select Troy Williamson, a wide receiver out of South Carolina. Reported by NFL.com

Most observers expected the team to go with a receiver in this spot, but it was Mike Williams rather than Williamson most projected here. ... Williamson is, nonetheless, an intriguing possibility. He's big enough to fight defensive backs for the ball, and his sub-4.4 speed can get him past defenders. ... For the record, Rams' general manager Charley Armey recently Williamson the best player in the draft. "Nobody can cover him," Army said. ... Head coach Mike Tice called Williamson "a faster Nate Burleson," this morning. ... All this for someone who caught only 91 passes and 13 touchdowns in college.
