Bucs GM Bruce Allen announced Simms is going on the injured reserve list and will not play this season. Reported by the Tampa Tribune

Simms' move frees a roster spot for Tampa Bay to sign a running back, which it desperately needs since fullback Mike Alstott and running back Cadillac Williams are out for the season, while Michael Pittman will miss six to eight weeks. Allen anticipates announcing Tampa Bay’s newest running back by Wednesday, and added he did not expect to trade for that person. Ciatrick Fason, Kevan Barlow, Shaud Williams, Tony Fisher and Zack Crocket are among the possible additions.
