The Facts:
The Buccaneers on Sunday obtained McCown from the Browns for a sixth-round pick. McCown started four of five games as a rookie last season and completed 48-of-98 passes for 608 yards and four touchdowns with seven interceptions. The Browns used a third-round pick on Akron quarterback Charlie Frye on Saturday, making McCown expendable. Cleveland plans to start veteran Trent Dilfer, who was acquired from Seattle last month.

A fourth-round pick of the Browns out of Louisiana Tech in 2004, McCown likely will compete with Chris Simms in Tampa Bay for the backup job to starter Brian Griese.
