Rice wants to return to the 49ers next season and head coach Mike Nolan would welcome him -- but only for a ceremonial retirement. "We have a lot of respect for Jerry, (and) we would love to have him retire as a 49er," Nolan said. "As far as him being a part of this squad this year, I don't believe that's going to happen." Rice holds every significant NFL receiving record, compiling 1,549 receptions, 22,895 total yards and 197 touchdowns receiving in 20 NFL seasons. He also has 207 total touchdowns -- 32 more than Emmitt Smith, who retired after last season.
