Holcomb is "extremely sore," HC Brad Childress said Monday, although tests revealed today nothing worse than the whiplash-type injury he suffered in Sunday's 23-16 loss to Philadelphia. Still, Holcomb seems pretty unlikely to be ready for this week's game against San Diego.

And Childress seems to be hoping for a quick recovery from QB Tarvaris Jackson, who sat out the Eagles game with a fractured right index finger. "If Tarvaris can play," Childress said, "he'll play." If not, Brooks Bollinger will start, but Childress would not entertain a discussion of the possibilities until he sees Jackson take part in a throwing session scheduled for Tuesday.
