The Facts:
Brien, whose tenure as the Jets' kicker essentially ended when the team selected Ohio State's Mike Nugent in the second round of the draft, has been informed that he will be released, a team official confirmed yesterday.  Reported by New York Newsday

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Because Brien is held in high regard among teammates, coaches and the front office, he is likely to be released quickly. Certainly, it will be done long before he is due a $375,000 roster bonus June 1. The Minnesota Vikings, who would have selected Nugent had the Jets passed, are interested in Brien.
