The Facts:
The Eagles have made no official announcement of its plans for Lewis, and the 33-year-old tight end has not made his plans known publicly, either. Lewis, however did tell a close friend that in his exit interview with head coach Andy Reid at the end of last season the head coach thanked him for all he had done, but indicated the team would not bring him back for his ninth NFL season unless in the case of an emergency.

According to a source close to Lewis, the veteran tight end still wants to play, but he also understands the situation. His foot is getting better every day and he plans to be ready if a team calls him before the season.
