The Facts:
Dilfer left the 49ers' game against Minnesota on Sunday with a head injury after taking a hard hit shortly before halftime. Shaun Hill, the third-string quarterback who hadn't taken a snap in his two seasons with San Francisco, took over in the second half with San Francisco trailing 27-0.

Dilfer went down motionless and stayed on the turf for at least four minutes, with players from both teams gathering around him. Dilfer eventually walked gingerly to the sideline and sat on the bench. He left the field on a cart moments after both teams headed to the locker room at halftime. ... We'll have more on Dilfer's status going forward once the team provides more details. But the veteran QB appeared to be knocked out cold and could have trouble making a quick return.
