The Facts:
Doug Flutie spurned the Giants so he could return home and play with the Patriots. And that may have opened up the door for Testaverde to return home, too. The Giants are expected to speak with the 41-year-old Testaverde, possibly next week, about replacing Jim Miller as their backup quarterback. Miller had surgery to repair a torn hip labrum on Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined 3-to-4 months.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Testaverde is one of the top names in a very weak, free-agent quarterback crop. Other available veteran quarterbacks include Kordell Stewart, Chris Chandler, Doug Johnson, Jeff Blake and Jeff George. Testaverde started 15 games and threw for 3,532 yards with the Dallas Cowboys last year.
