The Facts:
No more of this week-to-week stuff about naming a starting quarterback. Kiffin went ahead and named Russell the 2008 starter, dropping all pretense about "competition" and practice performance.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Tribune staffer Jerry McDonald suggested, that alone should upgrade the passing game, although with Jerry Porter a free agent and Ronald Curry prone to drops in the second half of the season, some new blood at receiver is a must. Still, Josh McCown was injury-prone and inconsistent, as was Daunte Culpepper. ... Of course, anybody who thinks Al Davis might sit idly by if Russell isn't the starter next September would be mistaken.
