The Facts:
Jacobs, who finished with 1,009 yards on the season, had a clause in his contract that called for his 2008 base salary of $520,000 to be increased to $927,000 if he reached 651 yards -- which he did. But it also called for his salary to increase to $2.017 million (equal to a first-round tendered restricted free agent) if he reached 1,050 yards -- which he didn't.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
That means the five games he missed, and the four other games where he was removed due to an injury, cost him approximately $1.09 million. Of course, the Giants could still give him the money anyway. And since ’08 is the last year of his current contract, it’s possible they’ll soon talk to him about a long-term deal.
