According to HC Turner, Gates "is no worse than last week" when he didn't know until Sunday morning that he would be able to play against Indianapolis. It might be Sunday before anyone knows Gates' availability against the Patriots. Reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune

Gates caught two passes for 28 yards against the Colts, but was used mostly as a decoy after taking two pain-killing injections before hitting the field. Gates left Indianapolis in a boot and planned to see a specialist today, as he fears his foot is getting worse the more he plays on it. This one sounds a bit dicier than Turner is letting on.
