The Facts:
The Seahawks will have no official word on the extent of Branch's injury until HC Mike Holmgren holds his season-ending news conference Tuesday afternoon. But league sources said Monday that Branch will need surgery to repair ligament damage, perhaps even the anterior cruciate ligament.

Jason Chayut, Branch's agent, told Post-Intelligencer staffer Clare Farnsworth that he and his client are seeking a second opinion and that he will know more about Branch's situation by the end of the week. If Branch, who was hurt in Saturday's loss to the Packers, does have surgery, and especially if it involves repairing damage to the ACL, he is looking at a six-month rehabilitation that would exclude him from participating in the spring mini-camps and also limit his activity once training camp opens.
