The Facts:
During his season-ending press conference, HC Mike Holmgren confirmed that Deion Branch will undergo reconstructive knee surgery after tearing an ACL in Saturday's Divisional Playoff loss to the Packers. Holmgren also announced that Shaun Alexander will have surgery to repair the cracked bone in his wrist. Holmgren also advised reporters he has yet to decide on his future but promised to do in coming days.

Although Holmgren didn't offer specific timetables for any of the above, he said Branch's surgery -- to be performed by Dr. James Andrews -- will take place as soon as possible. Holmgren, noting the usual nine-month turnaround following such surgery, pointed out that Branch is a hard worker. The coach also admitted it can take some players, especially those who rely on their speed, longer to return to previous form. ... As for Alexander, the coach gave no indication the procedure was major.
