Butch Stearns of WFXT in Boston reports that Rivers has a partially torn ACL, but will try to play on Sunday against the Patriots. The Chargers had described Rivers' injury as an MCL sprain. Rivers reportedly plans to attempt to play.

PFT editor Mike Florio went on to advise readers he received a tip earlier this week that backup Billy Volek had been told that he'll be playing against the Patriots. Florio couldn't corroborate that tip but suggests the WFXT report tends to make it more plausible. ...
