The Facts:
For those who might have missed the previous updates, Philip Rivers (knee) and Antonio Gates (toe) are both listed as doubtful for today's game against the Patriots. Despite the doubtful designation, both have a legitimate shot and playing pending pre-game warmups and the outcome "Dreaded Game-Time Decisions."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to multiple reports, Rivers has a partially torn ACL -- and injury that won't preclude him from playing if he can convince HC Norv Turner he's mobile enough to protect himself. We'll remind you that Gates was able to do enough in pre-game warmups last Sunday to do just that . He was also considered doubtful for that game. ... ESPN's John Clayton expects Rivers to start and go as long as he can today; ESPN's Bob Holtzman reports that Gates toe is worse than last week, but we still suspect the start TE will at least make an effort to hit the field -- even if only as a decoy. ... Stay tuned. I'll have the official status of both men when the team releases it.
