The Facts:
The Cowboys face a hectic offseason personnel-wise, beginning with negotiations to keep "The Barbarian" from bolting. Barber is a restricted free agent, meaning the Cowboys have the right to match any offers made to him. The Cowboys, of course, would like to re-sign him to a long-term pact. "I think this season, he proved himself to me and to everybody else what kind of player he is," HC Wade Phillips said.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Barber's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told the Dallas Morning News last week several teams could be interested in his client, whose stock rose dramatically this season after he notched career highs in carries (204), rushing yards (975), receptions (44) and receiving yards (282). He also scored 12 touchdowns, including a team-high 10 on the ground, giving him 33 for his three-year career. ... Asked if Barber would be the starter next season, Phillips said, "Well, next season's a long ways off, but he's definitely a starter. I don't know why he wouldn't be. ..." While owner Jerry Jones claims it's not a foregone conclusion, all indications are Julius Jones, an unrestricted free agent, will move on this offseason. And even though team officials reportedly worry that Barber's hard-running style could wear him down (they might draft a back as insurance), don't look for Barber to be wearing anything but a star on his helmet next fall.
