The Falcons are expected to select Jaguars DC Mike Smith as their next head coach, according to league sources. An announcement could come as soon as Wednesday afternoon.

Smith, Vikings DC Leslie Frazier, Dallas OC Jason Garrett (who withdrew from consideration to remain with the Cowboys), and highly-regarded DC Rex Ryan, late of the Ravens, each interviewed with new GM Thomas Dimitroff after the Falcons hired the former Patriots college scouting director on Jan. 13. ESPN.com's Michael Smith reports that despite the team's interest in Steve Spagnuolo the Falcons decided it wasn't in their best interest to wait another week to interview the Giants DC until after Super Bowl XLII, when the league allows.
