Former coach Joe Gibbs began calling members of the staff today to update them on the coaching search, league sources said. Gibbs is telling the coaches that it could be several more weeks until a decision is made, apologized for how this has left them unsettled and for the process taking longer than they had hoped.

According to Post staffer Jason La Canfora, the Redskins have also told other parties involved in this process that they anticipate expanding the process to include coaches involved in the Super Bowl and Jim Fassel, who emerged as the leading candidate this week, has been put on hold. La Canfora went on to suggest that Steve Spaguolo and Josh McDaniels would be the names to watch among the Super Bowl coaches. Barring another drastic turn from Daniel Snyder, all indications coming from the braintrust point to us heading to February without a resolution.
