The Facts:
In addition to offering QB Derek Anderson a new contract (see
previous item), the Browns confirmed on Friday that they also sent a contract proposal to Lewis in hopes of keeping him from entering the free-agent market. It is believed that Lewis was offered a two-year deal.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Lewis, the only Browns back other than Jim Brown to rush for more than 1,300 yards, is an unrestricted free agent but clearly is open to remaining in Cleveland. The Browns have no right to match an offer made to Lewis and get no compensation if he signs elsewhere. Lewis made about $5 million in salary and incentives in 2007 after signing a one-year contract with the Browns in free agency last offseason.
