The Facts:
The Rams, who have long complained about the rock-hard consistency of their artificial playing surface, are getting a new field next season. A news conference has been scheduled Tuesday to announce the new playing surface for the Edward Jones Dome. The stadium will have FieldTurf, which has become the standard for artificial fields in the NFL and has been likened to playing on natural grass.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Rams have played on the same carpeted concrete surface since the dome opened in 1995 and head coach Mike Martz has often complained about the unforgiving nature of the surface. A survey conducted by the NFL Players' Association ranked the dome's surface as the second-worst in the league last season, behind the AstroTurf field at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. That surface also is being replaced with FieldTurf.
