The Facts:
The Bears notified kicker Edinger two weeks ago of their plan to see if there was trade interest in him. That idea was more far-fetched, though, because if the Carolina Panthers are struggling to get a seventh-rounder for punter Todd Sauerbrun, who went to three consecutive Pro Bowls before last season, it's inconceivable anyone will offer a draft pick for Edinger.  Reported by the Chicago Sun-Times

More than likely, the Bears let him know they are exploring trade possibilities to reinforce the fact his job will be on the line this summer with undrafted free agents Tyler Jones and Nick Novak in to challenge. "The best guy is who we'll go with," head coach Lovie Smith said, "And I'll feel comfortable with him whoever it is out there."
