The injured tight end apparently decided to make the trip to Super Bowl XLII after telling his coaches and several teammates earlier in the week that he was going to stay at home in Miami. Shockey was due to arrive in town earlier this afternoon, according to a team spokesman.

According to Daily News staffer Ralph Vacchiano, it’s not clear if he was planning to catch up with his teammates or whether he planned to just stay out of their way. He’s also still on crutches, thanks to his broken leg, which makes things a little complicated. Because of that, he might not be able to watch the game from the sidelines. He might have to watch from a private box or in the stands.
