HC Marvin Lewis defended Johnson Wednesday and said the club won't even think about discussing trading its disgruntled wide receiver.

As Cincinnati Enquirer staffer Mark Curnutte noted, Lewis made his
strongest statements to date about Johnson. "No. 1, the guy has a contract through 2011, OK," Lewis said. "No one within the Bengals organization has ever spoken of or ever uttered anything about trading Chad Johnson, nor will he be traded. ..." It's worth noting, however, that Lewis admits he has not spoken to Johnson since the final regular-season game Dec. 30 at Miami. Lewis also expressed confidence Johnson can return to the Bengals and fit in with his teammates -- despite the mercurial wideout's obvious desire to move on. ... And as we've said before: Stay tuned.
