The Panthers are shopping Foster for a trade, several sources around the league told ESPN.com on Thursday night. The sources said several teams have expressed interest in Foster, but wouldn't specify which ones.

While none of the principals -- team officials, Foster or his agent -- are confirming the report, ESPN's Pat Yasinskas (who until recently covered the Panthers for the Charlotte Observer) notes there had been speculation that Foster could be a salary cap casualty. Now it appears the Panthers believe they can get something in return for their leading rusher from last season. Yasinskas went on to suggest that if Foster has any say, he might end up with a team on the West Coast because he grew up in California.
