The Facts:
The biggest snag in contract negotiations with Browns quarterback Derek Anderson continues to be the length of contract, GM Phil Savage said at today's NFL combine. The Browns have not budged from their initial stance of offering Anderson a three-year deal, while Savage said Anderson is looking for six years. If a compromise cannot be reached by next week, Anderson will become a restricted free agent on Feb. 29.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Dispatch staffer Jim Walker first reported late last month (see
HERE) that Anderson rejected the Browns initial offer of three years for $16 million with $11 million guaranteed. Savage said he remains optimistic a deal can be reached, although he hinted there could be pessimism coming from Anderson's camp. If Anderson is tendered, the two sides still can negotiate an extension. But it would make things more difficult as the Browns try to sign other big-name free agents.
