The Facts:
The 49ers offense received disappointing news Wednesday as Hamilton was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee. Hamilton was injured during practice. “Derrick Hamilton suffered a tear of his left ACL during today’s Organized Team Activity," Mike Nolan said in a statement. "We expect Derrick to undergo surgery in the next week and he will continue to be evaluated and treated by our medical staff."

Hamilton has drawn praise from Nolan for his performance during mini-camps and the recent organized team activities. Nolan indicated that the second-year wide receiver was in a battle with P.J. Fleck for the number three receiver spot behind Arnaz Battle and Brandon Lloyd.
