The Facts:
In his own mind, Davis believes he'll be ready to strap on some pads when the Carolina Panthers assemble July 29 for the start of training camp. But the team's trainers may have something to say about that. The truth is Davis isn't sure when he'll be given the OK to begin practicing again. And he knows it's out of his hands at this point. "They won't tell me (when I can come back)," said Davis, who had microfracture knee surgery last year on his right knee. "But I feel like I'm making a lot of progress."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Davis said he recently began running on the treadmill and hopes to be cleared to run on grass soon. His ultimate goal is to be ready to practice the first day of training camp and be full go by the Sept. 10 regular season opener. ... Unfortunately, that doesn't seem very realistic. We're looking for rookie Eric Shelton to get a very long look in the role of compliment to DeShaun Foster.
