The Facts:
Released Monday, Smith didn't even make it to training camp with Tampa Bay. The third overall pick in the 1999 draft, Smith was signed by the Buccaneers on February 18 and allocated to the Frankfurt Galaxy in NFL Europe. But Tampa Bay's acquisition of quarterback Luke McCown from Cleveland in April made Smith expendable.
