The Facts:
The Ravens locked up an offensive cornerstone for the rest of the decade Tuesday, as the two-time Pro Bowl tight end agreed in principle to a six-year contract. Heap, who is in Arizona rehabbing offseason shoulder and ankle surgeries, will speak to the media via conference call Tuesday afternoon. Scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2005 season, re-signing Heap before he hit the open market was one of the team's top priorities.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Ravens were not scared off Heap's tendency to get nicked in recent seasons. And the fact remains, he been a consistent producer when healthy, averaging 12.1 yards per reception and 3.4 catches per game. He was the team's leading receiver in both 2002 and 2003, a rarity for a tight end.
