The 49ers added a veteran presence to their offensive unit by signing Morton to a two-year contract. Morton has been one of the NFL’s most consistently productive performers at his position in recent years, registering four 1,000-yard campaigns in his career. Morton will be reunited with wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan who coached him at Detroit from 1997-01. Under Sullivan, Morton had his best statistical season, catching 77 passes for 1,154 yards and four touchdowns in 2001. ... Morton's experience will be welcome on a receiving corps with Brandon Lloyd and Arnaz Battle penciled in as the starters.
