StartEm SitEm Saturday Slate Week 15 2023

In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP.  I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Josh Allen each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after.  These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success.  My metrics to get the start decision are:  QB 20 pts or more,  RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement.  Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right.  I'll look at ~3 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Position Team Opponent Start/Sit Comment
Jake Browning QB CIN MIN SIT Browning has been phenomenal in relief of Joe Burrow. He's salvaged many Fantasy teams with productive days. However, Minnesota is leading with their defense as they manager their own QB situation. This isn't a plus matchup, so maybe look to throw a dart in a different direction this week.
Matthew Stafford QB LAR WAS START This is a great spot for Stafford and his surrounding weapons. Washington traded their top EDGE rushers several weeks ago, and this should result in Stafford having plenty of time to allow plays to develop.
Keaton Mitchell  RB  BAL JAX START Mitchell appears to be the lead back for Baltimore these days, and gets a plus matchup against a Jacksonville defense that has been reeling recently.
Chuba Hubbard RB CAR ATL START I'm going to keep going back to the Hubbard well, who has been delivering of late. This isn't a great matchup, but Carolina doesn't have many playmakers, and will need to rely upon Hubbard to get the ball moving on offense.
Ty Chandler RB MIN CIN START With Mattison declard OUT this week, Chander is the next man up for Minnesota, and makes for a nice low-end RB2 pivot play.
Jayden Reed WR  GB TB START With Christian Watson sitting out again due to his hamstring injury, Reed will be the focal point of the passing attack for the Packers against the Bucs.
