Building a Draft Kings Line up with the Quarterback Everyone Quit on

Each week I have some fun with one of my Draft Kings lineups where I like to go outside of the box or against the grain. Variance is key to winning the big money (which I have failed to do) and that’s how I like to take my chances in somewhat bigger contests. This week I will experiment in a $10 GPP building a lineup around that old quarterback that everyone thinks should have retired last season. You know, the future Hall of Famer with the noodle arm that does not have it anymore. Peyton Manning is (hopefully) going to win me $100 this week and put a big smile on my face. Below is the lineup built around the quarterback that everyone has quit on.
QB – Peyton Manning - $6,600
Manning desperately needs a good game. He has seven interceptions this season and has thrown picks each week. Kirk Cousins has more fantasy points than him. This week’s game at Cleveland could serve as the confidence boost Manning needs. The Browns are one of the worst defensive units in the league and opposing teams are averaging over 26 points against them. With Ronnie Hillman dinged up and C.J. Anderson contributing next to nothing I like the odds of Manning having to sling the ball this week. This is a contrarian play that could pay off if Manning has his best game of the season.
RB – Eddie Lacy - $6,300
I’m all about disappointing players redeeming themselves this week to earn me money. Lacy has been hugely disappointing has a soft Monday night matchup. I anticipate him being a lesser owned running back this week which I hope to use to my advantage. He will need to score, preferably on a short pass, to put me in the money.
RB – Javorius Allen - $4,300
Opportunity and volume are two things I look for when taking a chance on an unproven back and Allen should have both of those this weekend. It is looking more likely that Justin Forsett won’t suit up this and with Lorenzo Taliaferro landing on IR Allen should see the majority, if not all, of the backfield touches. Joe Flacco will not have much to throw to outside of Steve Smith, Sr. and Crockett Gilmore, both who are questionable and coming off of missed games. The Ravens cannot abandon the run and Allen could be in for a huge day.
WR – Emmanuel Sanders - $7,500
It is a common practice to stack in DFS which is what I am doing here. I chose Manning’s cheaper and more efficient receiver to pair with him against the Browns. If Manning has the big game I am expecting then it seems obvious to me Sanders will be the biggest beneficiary. Demaryius Thomas could have a huge game as well but he is not much of a threat to Sanders’ production.
WR – Anquan Boldin - $4,300
Boldin is still on sale over at Draft Kings. He is so cheap I may have played him even if it was not a revenge game against his former team. Torrey Smith will get the deep looks but it is Boldin who will show off for his former team this weekend. He hit pay dirt last week and if he can go over 100 yards and take a trip or two to the end zone again I may regret not entering this lineup in the Millionaire Maker.
WR – Julian Edelman - $7,600
It would not surprise me if Tom Brady breaks every single-game personal record available in this game. The Patriots have had this one circled on their calendar since the Deflate Gate debacle and they will pour it on even more this weekend. Edelman has huge games regardless; pour a little salt on his deflation wound and he may put up ridiculous numbers.
TE – Richard Rodgers - $3,100
This choice will be a bust if Rodgers does not score but that is a gamble we all take on tight end. With his low price and my current flex choice I have the ability to go with Antonio Gates here if I choose. Randall Cobb appears less than 100% so I may leave Rodgers in if I am in good shape after the 1PM games.
Flex – Jordan Matthews - $6,200
The Eagles offense is suddenly heating up and I love Matthews this week with the news that Prince Amukamara will be out for this game. The late Sunday kickoff gives me plenty of time to make moves if I have to before the night game. DeMarco Murray ($6,000) could wind up in my flex before kickoff.
DST – Vikings - $2,900
This seems like an obvious play. Jamaal Charles is, unfortunately, done for the year and Alex Smith spends more time on his back than he does in the pocket. The Vikings are one of my top defenses this week.
This is the lineup I built with Peyton Manning as my center piece. I know everyone has quit on him and I have seen him dropped in a few of my redraft leagues but I am giving him a chance this week. If he pays off, Draft Kings might have to pay me.
