Building a Draft Kings Lineup with Revenge Games

I can be a sucker for a revenge game. Football is a passionate sport and when a player has a little more on the line they usually play with an extra boost. Nothing is more motivating for a player than to show his old team what they are missing without him. This week for my out-of-the-box Draft Kings lineup, I will anchor my team with two players facing their former teams.
DeMarco Murray ($6,400) will be facing his former team in front of his former home crowd for the first time. Ryan Mathews is unlikely to play this weekend which should mean more touches for Murray. He always runs hard but I would like to think he may run a little harder this weekend. Peyton Manning ($6,300) and the undefeated Broncos are heading to Indianapolis this weekend. The dichotomy of both Manning and Andrew Luck’s poor play could make for an interesting matchup against Manning’s former team. Below is the lineup I’ve constructed with these two players.
RB - Antonio Andrews - $3,600
My logic in Andrews at his cost is he feels like a nice pivot play for those who will be all over Jeremy Langford ($4,000) this weekend. I wanted to load up my receivers which forced my hand to go cheaper with my RB2. If the Titans new head coach Mike Mularkey is telling the truth then I can expect about 20 touches from Andrews this weekend. Volume, low cost, and The New Orleans Saints rank as 27th against the run all contribute to this decision.
WR - Eric Decker - $5,300
Decker is subject to change here in the event he becomes a game-time decision but I like his chances of playing. He has scored in all but one game he has appeared in. Despite his scoring consistency he remains a bargain receiver in terms of pricing. I’ll take Decker at home against the 17th ranked Jaguars even if he is not 100%. I like his odds at catching five of his targets for 60 yards and a score.
WR - Malcom Floyd - $3,900
Floyd is another member of my bargain shopping bin. I paid up for other receivers, my tight end, and one of my running backs so low cost players are inevitable. For me he is a virtual guarantee to hit value on his cost. If Stevie Johnson slides into Keenan Allen’s role then we can expect Floyd to slide into Johnson’s role. It was Floyd who was targeted on the long ball last week and he scored a 70 yard touchdown. I do not necessarily expect a repeat of that but I do think Rivers will take shots down field and Floyd will be the targets of those.
WR - Emmanuel Sanders - $7,300
Sanders is my most expensive receiver this week. There is a $200 price difference between him and Demaryius Thomas ($7,500). I could have afforded Thomas but I went with Sanders here because of Vontae Davis. I think he will be on Thomas more than Sanders and even if he does lineup across from Sanders on a few plays he can still be beat deep. I will need a decent game from Manning for Sanders to be a smart play.
TE - Rob Gronkowski - $8,000
All that bargain shopping I previously mentioned made this possible. Gronk has scored in each of his past three games and there really is no stopping this man. Anytime I can afford to pay up for him I do. There is no such thing as a bad matchup when it comes to him. All I can hope is that he saw what Tyler Eifert did on Thursday night and be motivated to top that.
Flex – Alshon Jeffery - $6,700
I always reserve my flex spot for a Sunday night or Monday night player to allow me to make adjustments if I need to. I cannot imagine subbing anyone in for Jeffery. In his two games back since returning from a Week 1 injury Jeffery has 18 receptions, 263 yards and two touchdowns. Jay Cutler is giving him the old Brandon Marshall treatment, too. He has peppered him with 26 targets over two games. The Vegas line for this game is currently at 52 points. I am expecting a huge day from Jeffery against the 20th ranked San Diego Chargers.
DST – Raiders - $2,300
Of the remaining defenses I could afford the Raiders are the unit I felt the most comfortable with. I am not expecting a St. Louis Rams-style scoring performance out of them, but if they can sack Ben Roethlisberger a few times and pick him off they will be serviceable. They may not be a great play but I am not interested in paying up for a top defense when I can pay up at other positions.
I have entered this lineup in a $10.00 head-to-head on Draft Kings. I feel it is a strong lineup, especially if Peyton Manning and DeMarco Murray can have big games against their former teams. Come find me, jerseyjen22, in the draft lobby and put your daily fantasy chops to the test against me.
