The Hunter Report - DFS Week 10
I racked up 169.66 points in Week 9, which placed me 8th place out of 46 teams. The top team, “Donnybasbl”, snagged 213.12 points this week. Not bad, eh?
My lineup for Week 9:
QB – Eli Manning, NYG (12.42)
QB – Blake Bortles, JAC (20.44)
RB – DeAngelo Williams, PIT (37.5)
RB – Darren McFadden, DAL (12.7)
WR – Emmanuel Sanders, DEN (18)
WR – Odell Beckham, NYG (15)
TE – Charles Clay, BUF (1.1)
FLEX – Allen Hurns, JAC (20.7)
FLEX – Jordan Matthews, PHI (23.8)
DEF – Carolina Panthers (8)
There I go again, finding good value at RB so I can run excellent wide receivers out there. Yeah, I know it’s not always going to be the case, but I prefer locking in on good RB value and letting my WR do the work for me. What about QB you ask? I like to mix it up depending upon the option values available. This week turned out nicely for me, thanks to DeAngelo Williams and Jordan Matthews’ overtime touchdown.
The TE slot has really buggered me up over the last couple of weeks – makes me think Rob Gronkowski is an auto-start here on out. Well, not really, with Gronk taking a dive in Week 9. Still, I think I’ll be steering clear of the “value” TE options I’ve been running with lately (except Jordan Reed… ha-ha). I need a more “secure” option there.
You can check out the yearly standings for yourself. I’m “TheRolyPolyBoy”, and I rank 12th overall out of 46 for the year:

Bye Week: Atlanta Falcons; Indianapolis Colts; San Diego Chargers; San Francisco 49ers
QUARTERBACK
Top Level
Aaron Rodgers, GB vs. Detroit Lions ($154,200) – I’m going against the grain from my normal lineup routine. I’ve decided I like Rodgers far too much this week facing the Lions awful pass defense and don’t mind spending the big bucks to lock him in. There are far too many good values at RB and WR to make up for spending the dough on Rodgers.
Other choices: Tom Brady, NE @ New York Giants ($158,200); Drew Brees, NO @ Washington Redskins ($147,500)
Mid-Range
Blake Bortles, JAC @ Baltimore Ravens ($136,500) – I’ve got this Blake Bortles fascination right now, mainly since he’s averaging almost 19 FPPG tossing the ball to two very underrated wide receivers in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns. The Ravens pass defense is highly suspect and Bortles will get plenty of chances to throw the ball. The price isn’t great by any means, so don’t think Bortles is a value; however, I do see him earning the price tag in Week 10.
Other choices: Derek Carr, OAK vs. Minnesota Vikings ($133,200)
Value
Brian Hoyer, HOU @ Cincinnati Bengals ($113,400) – The matchup isn’t exactly the best for Hoyer, but he’s got excellent targets to look to especially DeAndre Hopkins. Surprisingly, Hoyer is giving FantasyFeud.com owners 18.17 FPPG this season. We should see enough from Hoyer to hit that average.
Other choices: Landry Jones, PIT vs. Cleveland Browns ($106,700)
Over-Value: :
Cam Newton, CAR vs. Tennessee Titans ($139,200) – Newton is coming off an incredible game in Week 9 where he put up 33.58 fantasy points. Sure, he’s got the skills to do it again facing the Titans but I just don’t think Newton will need to do as much overall. I see the running game really taking over in this one.
RUNNING BACK
Top Level
Adrian Peterson, MIN @ Oakland Raiders ($130,900) – Is the Raiders run defense starting to wear down a bit? I think so, enough that Peterson has an excellent day against the Silver-and-Black. I see at least one TD for the day, and over 100 yards, but don’t be surprised to find AP hitting the end zone twice.
Other choices: DeAngelo Williams, PIT vs. Cleveland Browns ($129,800); DeMarco Murray, PHI vs. Miami Dolphins ($123,900)
Mid-Range
Justin Forsett, BAL vs. Jacksonville Jaguars ($118,900) – Forsett has fought some consistency issues this season and hasn’t lived up to expected production. The Ravens as a team have failed miserably; however, Forsett gets one of the better rushing matchups on the day facing the Jaguars.
Other choices: Lamar Miller, MIA @ Philadelphia Eagles ($112,100); LeGarrette Blount, NE @ New York Giants ($102,500)
Value
James Starks, GB vs. Detroit Lions ($81,800) – If you’re buying into Starks taking over the meat of the running back carries for the Packers; this is a good time to give him a whirl. I love Starks’ price tag and appreciate his ability to catch balls out of the backfield. Eddie Lacy, where are you?
Other choices: Jeremy Hill, CIN vs. Houston Texans ($83,900); Ryan Matthews, PHI vs. Miami Dolphins ($69,800)
Over-Value:
Marshawn Lynch, SEA @ Arizona Cardinals ($124,500) – Lynch’s 10.45 FPPG average doesn’t get me revved up enough to use him this weekend. We all know Lynch has battled injury too this season, so he may not be 100 percent moving forward. I like spending my dollars wisely and Lynch certainly does not qualify as an over-value option.
WIDE RECEIVER
Top Level
DeAndre Hopkins, HOU @ Cincinnati Bengals ($144,300) – I’m starting to hate the term “matchup proof”, but that’s what you’ve got in Hopkins. Dude can put up points against any defense, as he’s racking up a cool 19.75 FPPG this season. If I’m betting on one wide receiver to give me what I want, it’s Hopkins.
Other choices: A.J. Green, CIN vs. Houston Texans ($136,100); Julian Edelman, NE @ New York Giants ($133,500)
Mid-Range
Demaryius Thomas, DEN vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($124,900) – The Chiefs are one of the worst teams in the league against the pass and Thomas will be itching for a good showing. The price is perfect and actually a good value overall. Lock Thomas in, as the Chiefs have allowed 13 TDs to wide receivers through eight weeks of play. Yep, they had their bye last week.
Other choices: Emmanuel Sanders, DEN vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($107,200); Stefon Diggs, MIN @ Oakland Raiders ($106,500)
Value
James Jones, GB @ Detroit Lions ($81,900) – Jones is a hit-or-miss kind of wide receiver, with only seven receptions over his last four games. Not good. Still, Jones has found the end zone and I do expect the Packers to take advantage of a soft Lions pass defense.
Other choices: Martavis Bryant, PIT vs. Cleveland Browns ($86,100); Nate Washington, HOU @ Cincinnati Bengals ($66,700)
Over-Value:
Brandon LaFell, NE @ New York Giants ($94,800) – Zero TDs for LaFell in 2015 equals zero times in my lineup. Pass. You can find MUCH better in the $90 K range.
TIGHT END
Top Level
Rob Gronkowski, NE @ New York Giants ($145,100)
Mid-Range
Jordan Reed, WAS vs. New Orleans Saints ($107,500)
Value
Eric Ebron, DET @ Green Bay Packers ($70,600)
Over-Value:
Tyler Eifert, CIN vs. Houston Texans ($104,500)
