The Hunter Report - DFS Week 11

I decided to veer from my normal quarterback strategy on FantasyFeud.com, where I look at values rather than top-tier options. Did it pay off? Not really. I got good point production from the QB slots, although I suffered elsewhere because of it. I ended up 22nd out of 46 teams for the week, which dropped me two slots in the seasonal rankings.

Check out my lineup from Week 10, where I only scored 108.84 points. The weekly winner goes to “Donkeyz”, who netted 162.44 points:

QB – Aaron Rodgers, GB (22.12)
QB – Blake Bortles, JAC (16.02)
RB – Justin Forsett, BAL (8.4)
RB – James Starks, GB (12.6)
WR – Allen Robinson, JAC (13.6)
WR – Pierre Garcon, WAS (2)
TE – Jordan Reed, WAS (16.4)
FLEX – Nate Washington, HOU (4.2)
FLEX – Jeremy Hill, CIN (3.5)
DEF – Jacksonville Jaguars (10)

Did anyone else expect a high-scoring game on Monday night between the Bengals and the Texans? I think there were a lot of DFS owners that got hurt on Monday. Also, with DeSean Jackson and Jordan Reed finally healthy, it’s looking like Pierre Garcon is avoidable from here on out. Garcon would have to be at a pretty special price for me to consider him. I’ll be looking to pump up my wide receivers in Week 11, with some excellent options at hand.

You can check out the yearly standings for yourself. I’m “TheRolyPolyBoy”, and I rank 14th overall out of 46 for the year in the NFL $22 FantasyFeud.com/FootballDieHards.com Season League:

Bye Week: Cleveland Browns; New Orleans Saints; New York Giants; Pittsburgh Steelers

QUARTERBACK

Top Level

Derek Carr, OAK @ Detroit Lions ($140,300) – Sure, this price is a bit steep for Carr, although I think he’s worth it if your game is to build from your QB slot on out. Carr has averaged over 300 yards passing over his last three games, while throwing 10 TD passes in total. The Lions’ secondary is porous and that bodes extremely well for Carr and his receivers.

Other choices: Tom Brady, NE vs. Buffalo Bills ($156,100); Philip Rivers, SD vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($135,900)

Mid-Range

Matthew Stafford, DET vs. Oakland Raiders ($124,400) – This is a matchup-driven suggestion only, with the price tag being somewhat reasonable for Stafford. There aren’t many choices in this range or below that have this matchup on hand. Stafford has the weapons at wide receiver to make this a big day.

Other choices: Matt Ryan, ATL vs. Indianapolis Colts ($127,800)

Value

Matt Hasselbeck, IND @ Atlanta Falcons ($110,500) – Hasselbeck filled in admirably for Andrew Luck earlier in the season, although his production wasn’t outrageous. Expect a worthwhile day from Hasselbeck for the price. I’d be happy with 250 yards and 2 TDs.

Other choices: Alex Smith, KC @ San Diego Chargers ($119,200)

Over-Value:

Tyrod Taylor, BUF vs. New England Patriots ($125,800) – Taylor is not someone you want to roster this weekend, not for $125-plus, mainly since the Patriots won’t let him run wild or build long and fruitful offensive drives. If Taylor is successful, it’s because he gets lucky with some downfield passes – just not my deal-io.

RUNNING BACK

Top Level

Devonta Freeman, ATL vs. Indianapolis Colts ($138,700) – I like Freeman coming off the Falcons’ bye week, getting some quality rest facing the Colts in Week 11. Freeman is averaging 22.68 FPPG, with a bunch of his points coming from his ability to catch balls out of the backfield. Gawd, I love receiving running backs. Don’t you?

Other choices: Todd Gurley, STL @ Baltimore Ravens ($134,900)

Mid-Range

Lamar Miller, MIA vs. Dallas Cowboys ($127,100) – The price isn’t fantastic by any stretch, but Miller is finding a way to get things done for the Dolphins as they face one of the worst rush defenses in the league in the Cowboys. Look for Miller to get close to 100 yards with at least 1 TD on the day. Ryan Tannehill will be checking off to Miller in the passing game quite frequently.

Other choices: Charcandrick West @ San Diego Chargers ($129,100)

Value

Latavius Murray, OAK @ Detroit Lions ($114,900) – Murray has slowed down quite a bit since the early part of the season, but the Lions have allowed 11 TDs on the ground this season. Murray will get a chance to find the end zone, so I’m taking the chance that he will hold onto the ball avoiding his recent fumbling issues.

Other choices: LeSean McCoy, BUF @ New England Patriots ($116,800); James Starks, GB @ Minnesota Vikings ($99,400); Doug Martin, TB @ Philadelphia Eagles ($93,300)

Over-Value

Marshawn Lynch, SEA @ San Francisco 49ers ($125,500) – I’m going to leave Lynch right here from last week’s piece. I might regret slotting Lynch here since we all know he is capable of huge games, but did you know that Lynch has only had one game this season where he’s produced more than 15 fantasy points? Yep, that’s it.

WIDE RECEIVER

Top Level

Julio Jones, ATL vs. Indianapolis Colts ($144,500) – There aren’t many players I’m willing to drop this kind of dough on, however, Jones is one of ‘em. The Colts have allowed 11 TDs to wide receivers this year and I expect Matt Ryan to hook up with Jones at least seven times. Don’t be surprised to see Jones end up with 10 receptions on the day.

Other choices: DeAndre Hopkins, HOU vs. New York Jets ($136,900); Calvin Johnson, DET vs. Oakland Raiders ($128,700)

Mid-Range

Larry Fitzgerald, ARI vs. Cincinnati Bengals ($115,900) – Anytime you can lock up this sort of talent in Fitzgerald for below $120 K, you go for it - regardless of the matchup. Fitzgerald has 19 receptions for 214 yard and 1 TD over his last two contests and I dig his chances at seeing 10 targets or more.

Other choices: A.J. Green, CIN @ Arizona Cardinals ($114,600); Alshon Jeffery, CHI vs. Denver Broncos ($110,100)

Value

Tavon Austin, STL @ Baltimore Ravens ($78,900) – I know Austin is a hit-or-miss option most weeks, so I won’t be offended if you decide to ignore my advice; however, Austin faces the worst pass defense in the league in the Ravens, a team that has allowed 16 TDs to wide receivers in 2015. FYI… Big-play receivers tend to wreck the Ravens.

Other choices: Jeremy Maclin, KC @ San Diego Chargers ($83,400); Jordan Matthews, PHI vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($81,300); Golden Tate, DET vs. Oakland Raiders ($64,600)

Over-Value

Dez Bryant, DAL @ Miami Dolphins ($129,800) – Sorry, but Bryant’s name recognition is the only thing earning him this price tag. Okay, well, maybe since Tony Romo is returning from injury does factor into things slightly, but it’s not enough for me to trot Bryant out in my lineup. I’d rather spend the extra bucks and slot in Julio Jones or DeAndre Hopkins.

TIGHT END

Top Level

Greg Olsen, CAR vs. Washington Redskins ($122,500)

Mid-Range

Jordan Reed, WAS @ Carolina Panthers ($111,000)

Value

Jacob Tamme, ATL vs. Indianapolis Colts ($70,600)

Over-Value

Rob Gronkowski, NE vs. Buffalo Bills ($145,600)
