The Hunter Report - DFS Week 12
Finally! No more bye weeks. I got wrecked in far too many of my seasonal leagues due to the Week 11 bye week. I mean, what’s a guy supposed to do without Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham and Ben Roethlisberger?
Lose.
Check out my lineup from Week 11, where I scored 114.04 points for 8th place out of 46 teams. The weekly winner goes to “WazJust1”, who netted 147.76 points:
QB – Matt Hasselbeck, IND (13.32)
QB – Alex Smith, KC (13.42)
RB – Jonathan Stewart, CAR (17.9)
RB – Latavius Murray, OAK (8.8)
WR – Julio Jones, ATL (20.5)
WR – John Brown, ARI (12.7)
TE – Greg Olsen, CAR (12.9)
FLEX – Jeremy Maclin, KC (4.4)
FLEX – Golden Tate, DET (11.1)
DEF – Philadelphia Eagles (-1)
Aside from Maclin and the Eagles defense, my lineup was solid through and through. I could’ve used another 20-point performance from someone, although I won’t nitpick my week too much. I’m thinking I’ll go a bit more quarterback heavy in Week 12, considering some of the values with higher-end QBs. It should be a fun week, especially at wide receiver. I see some Odell Beckham in my future, how about you?
You can check out the yearly standings for yourself. I picked up five spots this week in the rankings, which I’m pretty stoked about. It’s going to be tough to win this thing, but I’m still in the hunt. I’m “TheRolyPolyBoy”, and I rank 9th overall out of 46 for the year in the NFL $22 FantasyFeud.com/FootballDieHards.com Season League:

QUARTERBACK
Top Level
Carson Palmer, ARI @ San Francisco 49ers ($140,300) – Has Palmer given DFS owners an inferior game this season? Not really, although when you pay for Palmer at the $140 K price listed here you do expect to see a 20-plus point day. At least that’s my thinking. Lock Palmer in facing the 49ers, as they’ve given up plenty of yardage and TDs this season to opposing quarterbacks.
Other choices: Eli Manning, NYG @ Washington Redskins ($143,100); Blake Bortles, JAC vs. San Diego Chargers ($136,500)
Mid-Range
Derek Carr, OAK @ Tennessee Titans ($129,900) – This is a bit of a gut call, since I’m not expecting Carr to stink up the house two weeks in a row. Granted, the Titans aren’t horrible against the pass. Keep that in mind when slotting Carr, whose price isn’t exactly a value. He was shutout completely in Week 11 where the numbers showed he should’ve fared much better.
Other choices: Marcus Mariota, TEN vs. Oakland Raiders ($119,900)
Value
T.J. Yates, HOU vs. New Orleans Saints ($107,500) – It’s been nice to see Yates revive the Texans’ offense some, and you have to love the matchup that Yates draws facing the Saints pass defense. The Saints, believe it or not, have given up 28 passing touchdowns so far this season. Wow-zers.
Other choices: Kirk Cousins, WAS vs. New York Giants ($111,800); Teddy Bridgewater, MIN @ Atlanta Falcons ($110,200)
Over-Value:
Russell Wilson, SEA vs. Pittsburgh Steelers ($132,400) – No thanks. This price is set on Wilson’s 25.40 game in Week 11, and really isn’t taking into consideration his subpar performances the previous three weeks of play.
RUNNING BACK
Top Level
Adrian Peterson, MIN @ Atlanta Falcons ($139,800) – Peterson already has over 1,000 yards this season and he’s got a choice matchup facing the Falcons. AP is still fumbling far too much, so you’ve got to beware of the negative-point impact that he could have on your lineup. Still, AP is worth the risk to me considering the touches he’ll get and if I want to lead my lineup with a superstar running back option.
Other choices: Todd Gurley, STL @ Cincinnati Bengals ($134,600)
Mid-Range
T.J. Yeldon, JAC vs. San Diego Chargers ($114,500) – Yeldon doesn’t find the end zone much, although he does provide good production when it comes to total yardage. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is a major plus and the Chargers are the worst team in the league against the run. You see what I’m seeing, right? Yeldon had landed in my lineup this week.
Other choices: Mark Ingram, NO @ Houston Texans ($101,900)
Value
Chris Johnson, ARI @ San Francisco 49ers ($84,100) – This is purely a matchup-based play for me at this price, which dangles far below the $100 K mark. Johnson has been suffering with his play over the last couple of weeks, although I think this is the perfect time for Johnson to get right facing a suffering 49ers rush defense.
Other choices: Charcandrick West, KC vs. Buffalo Bills ($85,500); Spencer Ware, KC vs. Buffalo Bills ($58,100)
Over-Value:
Doug Martin, TB @ Indianapolis Colts ($126,500) – Okay, let me say that Martin isn’t a bad play. So, he could work out in the right circumstances, just don’t expect him to rattle off another 200-plus rushing yardage day, eh? The price tag is a bit high.
WIDE RECEIVER
Top Level
DeAndre Hopkins, HOU @ New Orleans Saints ($145,900) – Hopkins is about as money-in-the-bank as you can get at wide receiver and he’s worth every dollar of his $145.9 K price tag. The matchup is fantastic too, so if you can afford to work Hopkins into your lineup go for it.
Other choices: Odell Beckham, NYG @ Washington Redskins ($138,400); Larry Fitzgerald, ARI @ San Francisco 49ers ($131,900); Allen Robinson, JAC vs. San Diego Chargers ($127,200)
Mid-Range
Amari Cooper, OAK vs. Tennessee Titans ($109,100) – Cooper gets back on track in this game, as does his quarterback Derek Carr. I expect at least eight targets with five catches and 100 yards and a score. At $109.1 K Cooper is a nice value at a mid-range price.
Other choices: Brandon Marshall, NYJ vs. Miami Dolphins ($118,400); Eric Decker, NYJ vs. Miami Dolphins ($104,100); A.J. Green, CIN vs. St. Louis Rams ($102,800)
Value
DeSean Jackson, WAS vs. New York Giants ($77,800) – We finally saw the DeSean Jackson that we all wanted to see. I got hurt using him in Week 10 facing the Saints, and passed on him facing the Panthers. Ugh. Jackson looked good and draws a decent matchup. Not great, but decent. I love the price tag for the boom talent you’re getting in Jackson.
Other choices: Stefon Diggs, MIN @ Atlanta Falcons ($82,900); John Brown, ARI @ San Francisco 49ers ($81,200); Willie Snead, NO @ Houston Texans ($63,100)
Over-Value:
Demaryius Thomas, DEN vs. New England Patriots ($123,200) – I’m not buying into the Brock Osweiler to Thomas hook-up, not facing the Patriots and not for $123.2 K. You can do better, even with the talent that Thomas brings to the table.
TIGHT END
Top Level
Antonio Gates, SD @ Jacksonville Jaguars ($101,300)
Mid-Range
Jimmy Graham, SEA vs. Pittsburgh Steelers ($89,100)
Value
Crockett Gilmore, BAL @ Cleveland Browns ($66,500)
Over-Value:
Tyler Eifert, CIN vs. St. Louis Rams ($112,700)
